Wedding in Spain:” I asked her to marry me and she said yes!”

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in getting married in Spain

We had been together for three years before I popped the question. Though the time was ripe for marriage, neither my wife nor I had put much weight into this question. A little teaser, we had our wedding in Spain.

Like many modern couples, we were already living together, and had been for some time. So, we were simply going on with our daily lives, almost feeling like a married couple already. But even still, that idea of putting it on paper, was simmering somewhere on the back of my head. And as I later found out, also in my wife’s mind.

So, the day we celebrated our third-year anniversary, I took her out for dinner, to the place where we had our first date. I asked her to marry med and she said yes! Not long after that, the wedding planning started, or at least the brainstorming about how to go about it.

We had a lot of options on the table. Should we go for a church ceremony or for city hall? Where to have the celebration, and who to invite. One of the ideas that my wife came up with was to have the wedding in Spain.

At first, I thought this was an unrealistic idea. How was that ever going to work? Bringing all the guests there, etc. But the more we talked about it, the more it seemed like a fantastic idea. Of course I wanted to give my wife to-be, the wedding of her dreams, so we finally decided on having the wedding in Spain. My wife quickly powered through, and started to organize the details. We managed to get everything in place, even a professional wedding photographer in Spain.

For the destination we decided on Malaga, because of the many available venues, amazing beaches and not least, the easy access by plane, for us and our guests. We decided to keep the actual wedding rather small. Just the closest family and friends, in fact just 18 people in total. It was without a doubt the most memorable experience of my life, and I can only recommend all of you guys out there to do the same. Your wife will love it, and both of you can spend some days in the sun surrounded by the people you love. Of course you and your fiancé will know what the right choice for you is. But for us, having the wedding in Spain was definitely the right choice.

The city of Malaga is as beautiful and charming as you could possibly wish for.

Not to mention, that you have access to a beautiful beach, and amazing, local food and wine, to pamper your guests with. It’s also a lively place with lots of bars and nightlife, so can arrive some days early and have your stag party in these gorgeous surroundings.

I know we will cherish the memories from the wedding forever, and since we booked a professional wedding photographer in Spain, we can always look through all the photos from those special days.

Majorca destination wedding in Spain

Are you up for a little destination wedding in Spain adventure?

A colleague of mine was recently in Majorca, Spain. Lucky him! I was stuck at work behind the monitor. Urgh! Nevertheless, when he came back, he told me that Majorca was one of the best places that he’s ever visited! It got me thinking, why not have a destination wedding in Spain, Majorca?

Funnily enough, Majorca reminds me a little of Cyprus. I know it sounds luxurious and expensive, but it’s really not! In fact, many Germans have summer houses in Majorca. There are plenty of reasons why you should go for a destination wedding in Spain, Majorca.

Being on an island is sometimes the best

Great scenery and historical places! Imagine those wedding photos, capturing the beautiful coastal waters in the background. My point here is, that it’s not too crowded with tourists in some villages as other places in Spain such as Marbella or Malaga. In the end, a whole body of water separates the tourists from the natives. I‘d still recommend Majorca for a peaceful and tasteful destination wedding in Spain.

Great romance

It wouldn’t be a perfect destination wedding in Spain without having the perfect setting for romance. This is exactly what Majorca does! Small towns and charming European-like city centers will capture your hearts and get you in the I-do mood! The restaurants, the wine and the views will leave you breathless. Truly cozy and charming to share with your special someone.

Nightlife

When going to Majorca, you will have to fly into the city of Palma. This city is not only filled with stunning sites and a historic churches, it is filled with a party-like atmosphere. Beach bars, sports bars, beach clubs and night clubs are constantly filled with cheap drinks and great music. Your bridesmaids might even find a date for your destination wedding in Spain, Majorca.

Nature at its best

Do you love nature too? There are so many place you can visit such as the Caves of Drach. These deep and stunning caves will humble you with nature’s beauty. If you are a more of an outdoor sunset view person, then make sure you don’t miss the Cap de Formentor. This cape’s razor-edge cliffs can create a fabulous backdrop for a wedding photoshoot! Just be careful not to fall of the actual cliff.

The water is great

Not only does the water look great, it feels great too. Nice and warm. However, many people don’t even think to explore the beautiful waters of Majorca in more detail. It’s actually a fantastic place to snorkel and scuba-dive. I dare you to do an underwater wedding photoshoot. They’ve become very popular you know!

Wine

What better way to toast your wedding day than with a glass of delicious local wine from Majorca. In recent years, Majorca is becoming more popular as a wine exporter, as they produce exceptional wine. Yummmm! Tempted to do a destination wedding in Spain, Majorca? I know I am!

Why you shouldn’t use a drone for your wedding photos

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in getting married in Spain

Oh, I have news for you! If you are planning a wedding in Spain, or actually any wedding at all, you better pay attention. My little weekend experience might save you from making a horrible mistake on your most important day.

Last weekend, was the first wedding I ever attended. I know this sounds crazy, but it’s true. I couldn’t believe it either. However, I found the reason behind this. It just happens, that all my lady friends are ambitious career women and have had multiple successes in their professional lives. A lot of my friends still don’t plan to get married until they reach a point, where they feel stable and self-sufficient. I think this is also my case. Anyways, Susanne was the first from the group to tie the knot and say I do. She had her wedding in Spain, more specifically in Marbella.

The wedding

It was a wonderful ceremony. They had their wedding with a wonderful view of the beach. This is why there is a growing demand to have a wedding in Spain. The groom’s eyes totally lit up as Susanne walked down the aisle, with the warm sun making her dress shine. As she approached the altar, there were violins playing in the background. Everything was perfect at that point. When the music stopped, everything changed. There was a sudden buzzing that was coming up from above, and at that moment I realized, that Susanne didn’t book a professional photographer. She has a drone take her wedding photos. Big mistake!

The noise

Imagine someone mowing your lawn right next to you, as you are saying your I-do’s at your wedding in Spain. It was so incredibly annoying, there are no words in describing the horrible buzzing sounds. The drone was flying around above us, beside us, in front of us. It was everywhere and it wouldn’t shut up. It was so loud and distracting, that it ruined the whole ceremony. None of the guests could hear anything, and I totally missed every word from the couple’s vows. I couldn’t hear anything at all! Moreover, I couldn’t keep focus on the couple for the rest of the ceremony, as I was distracted by the drone moving around. Horrible! Really horrible. Susanne told me later, that she got really frustrated with it too.

Not really worth it

As a result of the drone being so high and flying around all the time, it didn’t get to take any high-quality close-ups. They have a lot of panorama photos and good videos, but no photographs showcasing those special moments, e.g. the exchange of vows. The drone definitely didn’t capture the look in the groom’s eyes, as the bride walked down the aisle. The photos from the drone have no emotions. Although, the photos will show stunning scenery and prove that you had a wedding in Spain, my advice is simple and clear. Get yourself a professional wedding photographer. The noise, the distraction and the bird’s eye photos are definitely not worth it. Hire a pro!

Find the perfect flowers for your wedding in Spain!

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in wedding in Spain

We all look for the perfect flower decorations and the flower bouquet for our marvellous wedding. The never-ending question – which flowers should I use? Your wedding in Spain shouldn’t be an exception to hold back on your flower dreams! Flowers are the perfect decoration to your dress and your wedding in Spain.

Many celebrities are fully aware of this fact. Beyoncé, for example, had an exclusive wedding in New York and she had over 100,000 orchids! Can you imagine how beautiful it must have been? They were all tailor made within a couple of days. The poor florist had teams of people assembling each orchid decoration manually. Only the best of the best for Beyoncé. The cost of course was undisclosed. However, I think more planning is needed for your wedding in Spain.

The appropriate flower

The most popular and appropriate flower used for a wedding in Spain are carnations. Did you know that carnations are the national flower of Spain? How fitting for your wedding in Spain. They will probably be cheaper than the usual roses, and you will have a wide range of colours you can select from. They are visually stunning and are beautiful when they fully bloom.
If you are a Sex and the City fan, you might remember the time when Charlotte told Carrie that pink carnations are according to her “eeew”. In fact, I remember when Jack Berger gave Carrie pink carnations the night before he dumped her. However, this is definitely not the case for your wedding in Spain. Carnations in Spain are said to symbolise passion and it’s no surprise that red carnations are the national flower. Hence, carnations are the perfect flower for your wedding in Spain.

Common practices

You have probably seen many cartoons where people dance with a carnation gripped in between one’s teeth. Believe it or not, you might see this practice while you are in Spain with your family. It’s very common to hold the carnation flower between your teeth! Maybe not a great idea to grasp the carnations in your teeth while you walk down the aisle for your wedding in Spain. It might not send the right message to your guests arriving from the UK. They might not understand that this, in fact is a symbol of passion.
It is also said, that if you receive a bouquet of red carnations from a man, it means that he absolutely adores you. If you receive white carnations, it suggests that the man is still single and is looking to date you. These are of course traditions in some parts of Spain. So, do your research on the meaning of flowers for your wedding in Spain. People take these things very seriously and selecting the wrong flower can ruin the vibe of your wedding.

Other suggestions

My best friend has recently chosen lavender as her wedding theme. Yes, you guessed right! Everything is also in the colour of lavender. What’s your favourite flower you’ve seen in weddings? I personally like king lilies, but they are so aromatic, it might be too much for some people. Leave a comment!

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Professional wedding photographer in Spain

It’s very important that you get yourself a professional wedding photographer is Spain. How else are you going to capture those special moments on camera? You want something worthy of a beautiful frame, don’t you?

If you hire an amateur, I guarantee you’ll be really disappointed in the end. And this is usually how friendships end. I can tell you countless stories when brides hire their friends for their wedding pictures as a favour. If you are thinking of hiring a friend, think twice and evaluate what your friendship is worth. Hiring a professional wedding photographer in Spain is the best thing you can do! They know what they are doing and will guarantee you a gorgeous outcome.

Nonetheless, even if you hire a professional wedding photographer in Spain, you still have to remember that you are working with people, and even that can sometimes be a challenge. Here are some tips and tricks that may prepare you and help you achieve what you want.

Set clear expectations

Show the wedding photographer the types of photos you like. Do your research online and print out a couple of pictures. Make sure you communicate your vision very clearly. Mention size, colours, focus, tone of photos, and special moments. With your clear guidance, the professional wedding photographer in Spain can go in the direction you want her/him to go after. If you are a control freak and want to have a safety option, make a brief for the professional wedding photographer. The brief should include the types of photos you want, include all specifications and deadlines.

Set clear and realistic deadlines

Deadlines are extremely important. Make sure you discuss these in advance and ask your photographer whether they are realistic from his/her side. The deadlines you should discuss are on the delivery and printing of the photos. Editing and proofing takes time. A professional wedding photographer will take time correcting and colouring photos, so make sure that you also don’t put too much pressure on the wedding photographer. Hence, you both need to sit down and agree on a common deadline. This way, the professional wedding photographer can deliver your photos on time. Yay!

If you don’t like something, say it immediately

Once the photos are delivered, make sure you don’t waste any time reviewing them. If there are elements which you are not happy about, tell the professional wedding photographer in Spain immediately! He/she is a pro after all and is used to this all the time. He/she is there to make you happy. What the photographer usually does, is that he/she saves the originals (never throwing out any proofs) in case the client has more requests. So don’t be shy, and tell the photographer exactly what your request is. The professional wedding photographer will be more than happy to help you.

Wedding in Spain and Mother’s Day in one!

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in wedding in Spain

What will you be doing for Mother’s Day? We Britons, are mostly popular for sending gorgeous Mother’s Day cards. Why not surprise your mum and send her a save the date or a wedding invitation for your wedding in Spain in one year?

I bet you that she won’t be expecting that! Just imagine her reaction when she sees your wedding invitation for your wedding in Spain instead of her Mother’s Day card. Let’s hope she won’t faint out of shock! And if you plan one year ahead, you can have your wedding in Spain on Mother’s Day as well.

Your wedding in Spain

If you book your wedding in Spain one year in advance, it leaves room for you to experiment with your wedding date. Why not get married during Mother’s Day in Spain on a beach? Not only will you give the perfect gift to your mum, but you will also get the perfect weather. May in Spain is a fabulous time to get married on the beach. You won’t need to research weather statistics or worry if it might rain on that special day in May. It will be sunny and warm, hot enough for you to wear your dress without a sweater. Moreover, not too hot that your beautiful wedding hairstyle might get ruined from the humidity. Weddings in Spain are just perfect in May, so you should choose Mother’s Day!

Attention

No worries. If you do decide to book your wedding in Spain on Mother’s Day, the spotlight will still be on you and your fabulous dress. In fact, I think your mum will even be grateful that you choose Mother’s Day for your wedding in Spain. She will interpret it as a token of appreciation. This will give you an excuse to have to huge celebrations in one day. Let’s face it, our mums are worth celebrating and we should be thankful to have them around every day! Make sure you thank you mum this coming Mother’s Day for all her efforts and love over the years.

The Plan

Don’t talk about your surprise to anyone. You know how people talk and never actually can keep a secret. If you really want to surprise your mum on Mother’s Day, then shush! Only let your second half on this clever plan. Make sure you have a red envelope at home. This way, you can place your wedding invitation and sneakily fool anyone that you are sending a Mother’s Day card for your mum. The red colour won’t give away the contents of the envelope and your mum won’t expect a thing! Next, your should ask your local post office when you should send your envelope so it arrives precisely at the time you want. My best guess it roughly two to three days in advance. For some security, you can also put the envelope in the mailbox yourself.

Then all you have to do, is wait for the huge surprise. Will you do it? You think you’ve got the guts to pull this off?

Weddings in Spain

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in weddings in Spain

Weddings in Spain are glamorous events on the beach or in the heart of the city, filled with joy and lots of sangria. Many brides opt for their weddings in Spain because of five main reasons.

Amazing cities

You can get married in one of many top wedding destinations in Spain. Most weddings in Spain happen in the Costa del Sol region. These amazing party cities include: Malaga, Marbella, Benalmadena, Nerja, Estepona, Mijas, Torrox, Manilva and many more. The top two destinations where girls have the wedding of their dreams are in Malaga and Marbella. Both cities scream luxury all the way. It’s also great to have weddings here, because the night before the wedding, the bridesmaids can order a gorgeous looking exotic dancer to prepare her for being with only one man for the rest of her life. It will be more difficult to get services like these in smaller cities. I am sure you didn’t think of that, did you? ?

Friendly locals

Weddings in Spain usually come with charming and hospitable locals. Spaniards are most welcoming, and enjoy discussing Spanish history and football over a delicious paella dish and a great glass of sangria. If you book a hotel for your wedding guests, don’t worry about a thing! Your guests are in good hands and might probably end up partying with the locals. The Spaniards generally love Britons, especially gorgeous British girls.

Sangria

Some brides have asked me, what is sangria? Well, sangria is a delicious drink with a red wine base. It contains carefully cut citrus fruits inside the wine base to give it a nice tangy flavour. All in all, it so delicious that you should be careful not to drink it too fast. It you drink too many, things could turn bad very quickly. I have seen that brides ask for a wedding version of sangria on occasion. This just means that sangria is served with white little umbrellas. Sangria remains one of the favourite things to drink in the sun. Not to mention, this drink is super cheap. In fact, sangria is much cheaper than a pint of beer back in Britain.

Memories

Ask yourself, which one is more memorable? Manchester or Malaga? Weddings in Spain or weddings in city hall back in England? You should treat yourself and give yourself and your guest the experience of a lifetime. You can hire a professional wedding photographer in Spain to capture these great moments!

Weather

The weather is much more reliable than in the UK. A lot of brides all around the world choose their date carefully using statistics and a lot research. Rain on your wedding can not only spoil the fun, attitude, the party but also your dress and your hair! It would be a tragedy if it rained on your wedding day. Luckily with weddings in Spain, there is no such problem. Pick any day of the calendar from March to October, and chances are that you’ll be experiencing lots and lots of sun.

These are the top five reason why weddings in Spain are just fabulous!
